About The Position

The Controller supports the Museum's Mission by providing accurate and timely financial information, ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, and providing the accounting support necessary to run an efficient organization, execute fundraising strategies and pursue special projects.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP or similar accounting software.
  • Ability to manage audits and compliance requirements effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Experience in a non-profit organization.
  • Familiarity with grants management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of 403(b) compliance and related financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute timely financial reporting and analysis to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and support direct reports in the preparation of monthly financial and operating reports using NetSuite ERP.
  • Complete monthly financial statements across MLS, including departmental level reporting and associated budgetary reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the CFO on the development of the annual budgets and assist in analysis of monthly budgeted to actual outcomes.
  • Manage the annual audit and coordinate other audits required by grantors or insurers.
  • Prepare quarterly reports to monitor 403(b) compliance and serve as the lead in the annual audit.
  • Provide operational oversight of the Museum's accounting and internal control processes.
  • Collaborate across all operating teams on grants management and accounting best practices.
  • Communicate directly with team members using strong written and verbal skills.
  • Manage team members to support their achievement of individual and departmental goals.
  • Foster a positive staff culture and work environment, motivating the team through positive reinforcement.
