About the position

The Jr. Controller/Controller position is a key role in financial management, responsible for overseeing the Finance Department and providing critical financial information to the company's leadership. This position involves managing various financial functions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The Controller will analyze financial operations and recommend improvements to enhance the department's efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Finance Department and oversee staff activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Payroll, and General Ledger.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual Financial Statements and Management Reports.
  • Organize and prepare for the annual external Audit, addressing any Auditor inquiries.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage daily financial operations.
  • Ensure timely creation and posting of customer invoices and payables invoices.
  • Approve payroll submissions and monitor payroll journal entries.
  • Conduct month-end close processes and prepare closing journal entries.
  • Reconcile and analyze Balance Sheet accounts and Income Statement variances.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages for management review.
  • Attend monthly meetings related to Accounts Receivable and Production & Planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing an Accounting Department with thorough knowledge of accounting cycles; month-end and year-end close.
  • Experience with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash Management/Planning, Cost of Goods, and Year-End audits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Quickbooks, and ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis, financial statements, account analysis, machine rates, and capital investments.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Business preferred.
  • Excellent math and accounting software skills.
  • Exceptional professional writing skills required.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Proactive, professional approach and attitude.
  • Diplomatic communication skills and ability to field inquiries in a professional manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing accounting environment.
  • Knowledge of IRS regulations regarding 1099 and ACA reporting.
