About The Position

The Controller serves as the hotel’s financial leader, overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role partners closely with the General Manager and Area Director of Finance to ensure accurate reporting, protect hotel assets, and support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of manager-level or above full-service hotel accounting experience required.
  • College coursework in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into business insights.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to partner effectively with leaders, associates, ownership, auditors, and external partners.
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday with flexibility for occasional weekends based on business needs.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to ethical financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all hotel accounting operations in accordance with Omni policies, GAAP, and the Uniform System of Accounts.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial statements within corporate deadlines.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to the General Manager and Area Director of Finance
  • Maintain monthly or quarterly balance sheet reconciliations with complete supporting documentation.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes by supporting the Area Director of Fiance and department leaders.
  • Review departmental budgets to ensure assumptions are reasonable and aligned with owner expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all treasury procedures, cash handling policies, and banking requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy in all financial processes.
  • Prepare required sales, use, and occupancy tax returns and ensure compliance with all external reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and secure all legal, financial, regulatory, and tax documentation.
  • Ensure proper insurance coverage is maintained in accordance with management agreements.
  • Evaluate, maintain, and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and data integrity controls.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to hotel leadership by monitoring economic, legal, and operational factors affecting business performance.
  • Provide guidance on compliance, ethics, and financial controls to all departments.
  • Lead, develop, and support the property accounting team with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
