About The Position

VERSYS (Verified Systems) is growing fast—and we’re looking for a hands-on Controller to build the financial backbone that supports scalable, profitable growth across multiple entities and jurisdictions. What you’ll own You’ll lead enterprise-level accounting and financial operations end-to-end; bringing structure, consistency, and insight from the field to the financial statements. Financial leadership & controls Own the integrity of month-end and year-end close, consolidations, and financial reporting across entities Build and enforce internal controls across AP, AR, payroll, and contractor billing Create and implement SOPs that drive consistency, speed, and audit readiness Coordinate audits and maintain audit-ready support files Payroll, AP, AR, and contractor oversight Oversee accurate, compliant payroll across US + Canada, including multi-state tax considerations Ensure AP/AR teams hit timelines with high accuracy and clean coding Review/approve complex invoices, payroll adjustments, contractor files, and billing exceptions Validate financial integrity through 3-way matching where applicable (Contract ↔ LEM ↔ Invoice) Project costing & construction financials Strengthen job costing accuracy using LEMs, field data, rates, and coding discipline Partner with Operations to flag variances early and improve margin visibility Improve dashboards and reporting to support predictability and profitability Tax compliance & reporting Ensure multi-state compliance (payroll tax, corporate, sales/use where applicable) Oversee reconciliations, remittances, and documentation for audits and reviews Cross-functional leadership Be the “go-to” finance leader for Ops/HR/field teams—clear, confident, and solutions-oriented Explain the why behind controls and cutoffs, and drive adoption without friction Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement What makes this role different at VERSYS This isn’t a “keep the lights on” Controller role. Requirements

  • CPA required
  • 6+ years progressive accounting experience (Controller-level ownership preferred)
  • Strong background in project costing / construction accounting and LEM-driven workflows
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-state payroll tax and compliance
  • Proven ability to lead AP/AR/payroll functions and raise team capability
  • Audit experience (public accounting or internal)
  • Multi-entity / consolidation experience across jurisdictions
  • Strong systems + Excel/Sheets skills (you can spot issues fast and fix the root cause)
  • Confident communicator who can build alignment across Finance ↔ Operations ↔ Field
