Discover what it’s like to be a part of the Fairbanks Morse Defense team here: https://www.fairbanksmorsedefense.com/careers Position Overview: The Assembler will timely and accurately build sub-assemblies and assemblies to customer specifications involving complex and repetitive wiring and mechanics. The Assembler will perform a wide range of skilled assembly to produce a quality product (electrical switchgear) in a timely manner. Perform all assignments within acceptable quantity and perfect quality requirements in keeping within assigned functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification from an accredited school.
  • 1-2 years of previous manufacturing experience, preferably in assembly work.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
  • US Citizen Required.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and production documentation.
  • Proficient blue printing reading and comprehension.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing floor setting and required to follow the PPE requirements.
  • Ability to communicate with managers, engineering, and quality regarding production and issues.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive motion including but not limited to lifting, bending, and squatting is inherent to this position

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with standard operating procedures
  • Previous experience with product electrical assembly, maintenance and/or repair
  • Basic working knowledge and experience with computers

Responsibilities

  • Assembles complex Controls and Control Cabinets as well as assembly on various product lines and other equipment
  • Assembles components and sub-assemblies; components, such as heater coils, require multiple manufacturing type operations, like cutting wire, winding, soldering and annealing the coil and checking resistance between operations to ensure its within tolerance.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to build sub-assemblies and assemblies.
  • Be responsible for visual inspections of material before and after assembly including all mechanical functions work and that there is room for replacing parts, electrically wire runs may be checked by use of multi-meter or other device.
  • Use various fixtures, gauges, hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, or repair product.
  • Report faulty operation, defective material, and unusual conditions to the leadership team.
  • Cross train on all assembly product lines as directed by the management team.
  • Observe good housekeeping and safety procedures and keep equipment, tools and work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
