The Controlled Substance Compliance Leader at Kroger is responsible for developing and implementing the company's controlled substance compliance program (CSCP). This role involves identifying compliance risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations, particularly those governed by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The leader will collaborate with executive leadership and various stakeholders to maintain an effective compliance program, serve as a subject matter expert, and educate teams on compliance matters.

  • Develop and implement the company's controlled substance compliance program (CSCP) plans.
  • Identify controlled substance compliance risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support required compliance reporting and collaborate with executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for controlled substance compliance matters.
  • Educate and collaborate with leadership and business teams regarding compliance requirements.
  • Conduct risk-based assessments to quantify risk and evaluate gaps.
  • Review reports and conduct analysis of compliance metrics to identify trends.
  • Manage relationships with parties that support the CSCP's program activities.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports, completing performance reviews and providing feedback.
  • Travel independently to various departments and industry meetings.
  • Minimum Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in healthcare or pharmacy management including compliance program management.
  • 4+ years of diversified leadership, communication, organization, and people motivation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize analysis into compelling communications.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work based on changing deadlines.
  • Highly collaborative individual with proven ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Master's degree in relevant field.
  • Prior compliance management or consulting experience.
  • Current Certification in their compliance area.
