About the position

At Steven Douglas Corp (SDC), our machines solve real-world problems in industries that demand precision, flexibility, and innovation. As a Control Systems Hardware Designer, you’ll be at the core of these solutions—creating robust, reliable hardware designs that power custom automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document electrical systems using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, including schematics, panel layouts, and system wiring diagrams.
  • Develop detailed BOMs and technical documentation to guide build and integration.
  • Specify and size electrical components that balance functionality, compliance, and cost.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Support system build and commissioning phases, performing debugging and optimization.
  • Uphold design standards in accordance with NFPA 79, UL, IEC, and other relevant codes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years in electrical hardware design for industrial automation or capital equipment.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of industrial control panel design, power distribution, and safety circuits.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator who thrives in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% for project support.
