The Control Systems Engineer for Energy Storage at Honeywell is a key member of the Battery Energy Storage Solutions Vertical, responsible for developing proposals related to microgrid controls and energy management systems. This role involves technical guidance on renewable energy technologies, particularly battery energy storage systems, and requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

  • Understand the energy markets in the America's region and advise on business cases for energy storage projects.
  • Collaborate with team members in the preparation and coordination of proposals and marketing efforts.
  • Conduct technical reviews of customer requirements in requests for proposals, including system designs and microgrid controls.
  • Develop responses to proposals related to turnkey controls schemes, including analyzing specifications and writing scopes of work.
  • Ensure proposed solutions adhere to industry standards and electrical engineering design principles for renewable energy systems.
  • Serve as a microgrid controls subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and mentoring to project teams.
  • Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop models and enable model-based code development.
  • Support business development by engaging with prospective clients and leading proposals.
  • Three to five years of related technical experience in electrical controls projects such as battery energy storage and microgrids.
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience and understanding of microgrids, renewable energy integration, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge of renewable and electrical codes and standards such as IEEE, 1547, and IEC61850.
  • Experience troubleshooting microgrid control systems and conducting grid simulation studies.
  • Proficient in programming using languages such as SQL, C, C++, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in solar PV projects or microgrids.
  • Knowledge of utility industry communications protocols like Modbus and DNP3.
  • Experience with hybrid power projects feasibility studies using tools like Excel or Matlab.
