We are looking for a Control System Specialist to support our SJE Revere brand. This role will work out of our Birmingham, Alabama location. Heavy travel is required with this position. Our Revere brand is a leading provider of automation and control solutions for the industrial, water and wastewater treatment, power and energy, manufacturing, food and beverage, oil and gas, and pulp and paper industries. We design, build, and implement customized automation and control systems for highly complex projects. As a Control System Specialist, you will work in all areas of project implementation including project management, panel design, hardware selection, vendor/end user/consultant interaction, programming, testing, and site support. This position is responsible for efficiently designing, testing, implementing, and completing projects in a timely manner while meeting or exceeding project specifications and budget requirements.

  • Design electrical control panels and systems using industry standards.
  • Program PLCs and HMIs across multiple platforms, including advanced control strategies like PID loops.
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget alignment.
  • Collaborate with production, field service, and engineering teams to ensure accurate fabrication, installation, and testing.
  • Write technical documentation including testing procedures, training materials, and sequence of operations.
  • Support customers via phone, remote access, and on-site service.
  • Coordinate with vendors and verify equipment specifications.
  • Must have completed at least five (5) years of educational and/or work experience in the control and instrumentation field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years educational and/or work experience with AutoCAD preferred OR sufficient AutoCAD training from a school with genuine desire to be trained.
  • Ability to assist in designing electrical equipment and components, writing, and testing new software programs as well as creating technical specifications and writing operational documentation.
  • Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet, AutoCAD.
  • Experience with electrical schematics required.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
  • Self-motivated and have a proven ability to design, write and test software and provide hardware services for small projects with significant supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills include the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors.
