About The Position

The position involves assisting with the development and implementation of site safety requirements and procedures, ensuring they are consistently observed and corrective actions are initiated when necessary. The role oversees and provides guidance on all facility operations, including the startup and shutdown of main plant components, auxiliaries, and system components. The individual will assist in establishing and continually improving comprehensive and efficient programs in operations, maintenance, chemistry, environmental control, and safety. Additionally, the position requires overseeing the collection and analysis of plant operational and performance data, maintaining logs and records to recognize abnormal plant conditions and take appropriate corrective actions. The role also involves interpreting ISONE daily plant dispatch and communications, planning operational and maintenance activities to ensure high reliability and performance of the plant, and developing standard procedures for operations and maintenance. The individual will assign and drive daily work tasks, ensuring high work quality from operations technicians, interact with various equipment and service vendors, and work a rotating shift schedule with scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Establishing and maintaining high personnel and professional standards of safety and environmental conscientiousness and compliance is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of power plant mechanical and electrical equipment and associated maintenance functions.
  • Knowledge of power plant safety policies and procedures, especially in high-energy systems and chemical handling.
  • Knowledge of federal and local permits and regulatory policy including environmental and NERC standards.
  • Experience in at least four of the following skill areas: login interpretation, rigging, rotating machine repair, fabrication, piping schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical theory, electrical safety, vibration analysis, electrical test equipment, basic electrical trouble-shooting.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply technical information, including mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to locate, trouble-shoot, and adjust defects in mechanical equipment and maintain plant electrical systems.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate work on technical subjects with others across job families.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various analytical and test equipment.
  • Outstanding skill in leadership and interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and other computer-based programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Control Room Operator (CRO) qualification preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
