About The Position
The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring plant systems, responding to alarms, adjusting controls, and ensuring compliance with operating procedures and environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Experience in power plant operations (combined‑cycle preferred)
- Strong understanding of plant systems, operations, and troubleshooting
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in a fast‑paced control room environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Nice To Haves
- Mechanical or electrical aptitude preferred
Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate plant equipment and systems from the control room using DCS and SCADA platforms
- Respond to alarms and system irregularities, taking appropriate corrective actions
- Support plant start‑ups, shut‑downs, and load changes safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine equipment checks and coordinate with field operators
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and shift reports
- Follow all Calpine safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Communicate equipment status, issues, and operational changes to supervisors and maintenance teams
