About The Position

JSM Airport Services, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Control Room Operator at the George Bush International Airport (IAH). This is a career-track opportunity, and we are looking for individuals ready to commit to a long-term professional future with our company, with an expected commitment of at least 1 year.  The Control Room Operator is a coordination support role that assists in maintaining the airport’s Baggage Handling Systems (BHS). Compensation: Full Time Weekly Pay  Hourly Rate: Starting at $20.00 (Dependent on Experience) Work Schedule:  Must be able to work as scheduled (this is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation). Holidays will be included if they fall on a scheduled workday. Shift assignments are based on the airport and company requirements. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Educational Development (GED).
  • Experience with computer software applications (i.e., MS Office, ERP, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress, offering solutions to resolve issues.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Possess the versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a member of various teams.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or crawl on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • The applicant must be able to successfully pass a drug screen (we promote/maintain a Drug Free Workplace), a driver's license check, a background check, and required federal fingerprinting, security threat assessment, as well as airport security badging, for continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Report on BHS (Baggage Handling System) alarms/events to inspect, clear blockages/jams, and repair failed equipment as appropriate.
  • Coordinate personnel and resources to ensure minimum service requirements are maintained.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and BHS related inquiries by person/telephone in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Control Room Operator(s) shall be attentive of the condition of the entire BHS at all times in order to respond immediately to events and/or possible blockages/events and/or unusual behavior, including but not limited to:                      1. Jams 2. E-Stops 3. Faults 4. Security 5. Equipment malfunction 6. Incorrect operation 7. Incorrect routing of baggage 8. Power outages
  • Control Room Operator(s) shall be proficient and trained on the proper use of all equipment and interfaces within the BHS control room, including but not limited to: 1. Workstations based on Microsoft Windows operating systems. 2. Customized applications to monitor BHS operations. 3. Customized applications to monitor and identify baggage routing. 4. Radios 5. Telephone systems 6. Reporting/Recording the schedule of events. 7. Startup procedures 8. Implement call tree notifications based on equipment failures. 9. Implement fallback procedures in accordance with adopted practices.
  • Safety and compliance training as required. 
  • Perform other reasonable ancillary duties to support the operation and our customer.
