About The Position

We are looking for a Control Room Operator to join the Penn Waste team in Manchester, PA. Monday-Friday day shift with mandatory Saturdays following a holiday. Summary: Under the direction of the Mezzanine Supervisor readies the BHS system from the mezzanine control room in order to provide a safe and orderly environment of the recycle center by performing the following duties to ensure quality bales with the use of teamwork. Responsibilities

  • Runs out all debris remaining from screen cleaning from previous shift.
  • Loads back end of BHS, belts #10, #12 and #14.
  • Readies the BHS system for production at scheduled start time.
  • Start system in order to check for mechanical or electrical issues/concerns.
  • Checks material quality at start up and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Continually monitors quality checkpoints and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Shuts down machine at the end of the shift.
  • Ensures that all local breakers are locked out and tagged.
  • ALL Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are to be followed.
  • Assists in daily cleaning of all areas as assigned by the supervisor, to include but not limited to: NRT’s, Screens, drum and decks.
  • Remain until all cleaning is completed or released.
  • Completed a safety walk through to insure that all employees are accounted for and that no one is in the screens, NRT’s or the metering bin.
  • Is a champion of safety programs within the Penn Waste, Inc. organization.
  • Leads by example by wearing/using all required PPE at all times.
  • Works well with others.
  • Assists supervisor with assigning sorters, as needed.
  • Assist as a sorter during breaks or shortages in personnel.
  • Ensure that all trash, rigid and metal containers are emptied at the end of the shift.
  • Pulls the fortress key after the BHS system is in Maintenance mode.
  • Verifies that all locks have been removed by the assigned lock holder from local lockouts as described in the Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  • Inspects for damaged/missing disks after cleaning news #1 and #2.
  • Any damaged disks shall be replaced prior to leaving for the day.
  • Replaced disk(s) shall be marked on the chart and forwarded to Mike Goldman, or other assigned personnel for tracking purposes.
