About The Position

As a Control Room Operator at Reworld, you will be responsible for executing approved plant start-up and shutdown procedures to ensure the facility meets its operational, environmental, and safety commitments. This role is crucial for maintaining safe and efficient operations while monitoring various systems and equipment within the plant.

Requirements

  • Must have 5 years of experience in power plant or related industry as CRO or Assistant CRO or equivalent.
  • Preferred ASME/QRO provisionally certified or able to become certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of at least one year's experience as a Turbine Operator or related outside experience.
  • Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the principles of operation, function and construction of steam boilers, theory and chemistry of combustion, boiler water quality control, turbine-generators, continuous emissions monitoring equipment, and auxiliary equipment and systems.
  • Must have a clear understanding of equipment interlocks, alarms and trips and must understand how the various plant control loops respond and the speed at which they respond in both normal and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to Crane, Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
  • Effectively monitor Covanta operations systems and have strong working knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations.
  • Manage critical events and prioritize tasks for completion during emergencies, providing clear directions in operational, safety, and environmental tasks.
  • Respond to operational alarms, taking immediate corrective action.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of operational best practices, including the ability to problem solve and make sound decisions that support Covanta's safety and operational goals.
