About The Position

The Control Room Operator position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy industrial machinery within a continuous processing line at a diversified North American wood products company. The operator will advise their shift supervisor and make necessary adjustments that will directly impact plant performance, efficiency, and quality. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in a manufacturing, heavy industrial or military environment.
  • Experienced in heavy industrial machine controls, manipulation, and monitoring through HMI systems.
  • General PC and software knowledge to include Microsoft Office products, camera systems, and HMIs.
  • Experience working in continuous process with the understanding of process flow.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment, providing advisement when necessary.
  • Willing and able to work twelve (12) hour rotating shifts including holidays, weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Willing and able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Be reliable by possessing consistent and predictable attendance behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Drive EHS initiatives through personal ownership and involvement in the mill's safety culture.
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify, report, and eliminate hazards in the workplace.
  • Monitor various dashboards, cameras, and HMIs to maintain control of processes.
  • Make process adjustments as needed for current operating conditions.
  • Enter product recipes, execute changeovers, and adhere to schedules, control plans, and SOPs.
  • Communicate changeovers with necessary personnel to allow proper sequencing and setup for product.
  • Enter data into tracking software with accurate descriptions for line stops, downtime, and efficiency loss for the shift.
  • Perform equipment checks to assist personnel with LOTOV process.
  • Provide leadership and direction to personnel through assistance with troubleshooting, line stops, and other production or quality issues.
  • Interact with other departments to identify and prioritize production, quality, and maintenance needs that impact production.
  • Assist team with tasks during outages and plan scheduled downtime.
  • Perform regular housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the site leadership team.
