About The Position

The Control Room Operator position at the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is responsible for providing surveillance and security control of all doors and gates for the jail facility. This role involves monitoring various communication systems, including CCTV, radio, intercom, and telephone communications, to ensure the safety and security of the facility. The operator will also be tasked with reporting any emergencies and maintaining a daily activity log.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No prior law enforcement or corrections experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff members.
• Ability to apply independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the Sheriff's Office policy and procedures after training.
• Ability to operate various equipment needed for the job, such as computers and control panels.

Responsibilities

• Operate Central Control panels and manage entry authorization by confirming visual identification of staff and visitors.
• Maintain control of all entry/exit doors and gates accessible to persons inside the facility.
• Monitor video surveillance and internal/external radio transmissions for security purposes.
• Activate jail security staff in areas requiring backup support.
• Maintain and monitor life safety alarms and notify authorities in emergencies.
• Keep a daily activity log to record movements and activities in the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Central Control area.
