About The Position

The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling security access and movements within the jails. This role involves overseeing the safety and security of employees, prisoners, visitors, and volunteers, while responding to emergencies and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The position requires effective communication and decision-making skills to manage various security situations and maintain a secure environment.

Requirements

• Two years of directly related experience in Corrections, Security, Law Enforcement, Loss Prevention, Video Surveillance, or Call Center.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must pass a drug test and pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

• BCI certification
• Experience with video and alarm system equipment
• Familiarity with control panels and related software.

Responsibilities

• Controls access to secure doors, Booking and Visiting areas, units, halls, and high traffic areas.
• Remotely monitors movement throughout jails and identifies emergency situations, calling for appropriate responses.
• Observes prisoners within common areas and secure perimeters.
• Responds to panel alarms and intercom communications, performing emergency protocols as needed.
• Receives and dispatches information and requests at the direction of supervisors or commanders.
• Tests controls for alarms, doors, and elevators, monitoring electronic security systems for issues.
• Greets visitors and volunteers, answers phones, compiles reports, and assists the public.
• Monitors and tests recording equipment for cameras, downloading and copying video as necessary.
• Controls radio traffic within the facility, managing non-emergency communications during crises.
• Prepares daily logs and reports, entering information into databases.
