About The Position

The Control Journeyman Technician provides support to other technicians and also works independently. They work strictly in Georgia Power substations and panel shops. They must deal with day-to-day issues and find suitable solutions under difficult circumstances. They must have an excellent command of decision-making and problem-solving techniques and are able to apply them appropriately. They must be able to work at various job locations. The Control Journeyman Technician's job includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance for the Company.

Requirements

Installing new equipment in relay control houses.
Removing and replacing old equipment in substation control houses.
Pulling and Terminating control cables in control houses.
Replacing and installing new battery systems in control houses.
Installing and terminating Cat V cables and fiber optic cables.
Wiring and rewiring equipment in substation yards - breakers, transformers, CCVT's AC & DC distribution panels.
Able to work in fast-paced multi-functional changing environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attentiveness to detail.
Possession of strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept directions on given assignments.
Exceptional time management skills.
Able to work flexible hours to complete job tasks at hand.
Able to multi-task and manage priorities.
Must be honest, assertive, and systematic.
AA degree in Construction, and/or Electrical Services or equivalent work experience.
