About The Position

The Control Clerk works as a staff member of the Student Services team at Oak Grove Academy in Jasper, FL. This role is primarily responsible for all functions of the Control Desk to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and the campus. Key duties include establishing the Control Desk as a professional and effective administrative unit, monitoring all individuals entering the site (including metal detector compliance, log-in, and key control), and ensuring the safe movement of people throughout the facility. The Control Clerk also handles general daily office activities such as correspondence, typing, reporting, filing, and managing mail. They are responsible for answering incoming calls, radio/intercom transmissions, managing keys, communication equipment, and maintaining various logs. Additionally, the role requires knowledge of emergency evacuation plans and assisting emergency personnel, as well as supporting students in concerns and isolation watch when applicable. The position aims to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for the youth served.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test
  • Be able to pass a DJJ and DCF background checks

Responsibilities

  • Work as a staff member of the Student Services team.
  • Ensure the safety and security of students, staff and campus by managing all functions of the Control Desk.
  • Establish the Control Desk as a professional, responsive and effective administrative unit to the site, external agencies and clients and parents.
  • Monitor the functions of the Control Desk at all times, all individuals entering the site, including metal detector compliance, log in and key control and the safe and efficient movement of staff, students and visitors throughout the facility.
  • Handle general daily office activities including but not limited to correspondence, typing, reporting, filing, copies, faxes, incoming and outgoing mail, tours, etc.
  • Answer all incoming calls, radio/intercom transmissions and entry requirements.
  • Receive and dispense personal keys, facility keys, communication equipment and mechanical restraints.
  • Maintain the vehicle calendar, log books, transport bags and restraint logs, if applicable.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all Emergency Evacuation plans and policies as well as provide directions to emergency personnel in the event of an emergency.
  • Assist with students in Concerns and Isolation watch, if applicable.
  • Establish and maintain organizational procedures to ensure effective operations and administrative support.
  • Create a positive, safe and supportive environment for the youth.
