As a Control Automation Engineer on our team, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the Machines and Automation efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes for current programs. Assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements: Reduced Scrap, Increase OE, Reduced Cycle Time. Documents and presents findings of the improvements to management. Implementing the improvements and it at the floor. Lead Automation process through support manufacturing Operations. Responsible for overseeing tooling, fixture, and gauge design and engineering drawing mark-ups per job launch plans.

  • Coordinate Machines and Automation efforts on new program launches.
  • Set up and/or revise manufacturing processes for current programs.
  • Assist manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements.
  • Document and present findings of improvements to management.
  • Implement improvements on the manufacturing floor.
  • Lead Automation process through support of manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee tooling, fixture, and gauge design and engineering drawing mark-ups.
  • Program existing equipment and assist in defect reductions.
  • Support existing manufacturing lines in production.
  • Optimize/setup programs to improve equipment efficiencies and output.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain and write work instructions, control plans, process flow, and process failure modes effects analysis documents.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with current safety policies.
  • Design electrical and pneumatic controls using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop a bill of controls materials and seek cost estimates.
  • Design interconnections of peripheral hardware.
  • Develop system software architecture and write control system software.
  • Develop Human to Machine Interface (HMI) programs.
  • Debug system hardware and software.
  • Run factory acceptance tests at supplier and facility.
  • Support installation of equipment.
  • Bachelor of Engineering or a High School Diploma with 8+ years of experience as a Control Automation Engineer in automotive electrical center plant.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge of APQP quality principles.
  • Experience with PLC's, HMI’s, and Motion Control (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron).
  • Familiarity with Robots (Epson, Fanuc) and Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Matrox).
  • Knowledge of Industrial Protocols (Ethernet IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, Profinet, EtherCat).
  • Experience with SQL Database integration for product traceability.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Visual Studio Programming.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with specialties in Controls, Computer Control Systems, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio).
