About The Position

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Contracts Lawyer in the United States. This is a high-impact role for a practical, business-focused attorney with expertise in commercial and government contracting. You will take ownership of the company’s contracting function, negotiating and drafting agreements that enable revenue, partnerships, and operational growth. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product, Finance, and Security, you will balance speed and risk while providing clear, actionable legal guidance. This position offers the opportunity to build scalable contracting processes, shape legal infrastructure, and contribute directly to the company’s growth trajectory. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited US law school and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction
  • 5+ years of experience in technology contracting, either in-house or at a law firm
  • Knowledge of both commercial and public-sector contracting frameworks
  • Strong commercial judgment and risk-aware decision-making
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal legal infrastructure
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to balance speed-to-revenue with risk management
  • Startup mindset: flexible, resourceful, and execution-focused while comfortable working in ambiguity

Nice To Haves

  • Prior in-house experience at an early-stage or high-growth software company
  • Experience with reseller or channel agreements and international contracts
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity or compliance markets

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including customer, vendor, reseller, channel, and government contracts
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and negotiation playbooks to streamline contracting processes
  • Advise internal teams on key contract terms, including renewals, IP rights, licensing restrictions, FAR/DFARS flow-downs, audit, recordkeeping, and termination provisions
  • Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and operational risks across commercial and government contracts
  • Translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders
  • Maintain a contract database and ensure alignment with company policies, investor expectations, and applicable laws
