About The Position

OUC – The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Operations Administration division. The OUC Internship Program is dedicated to providing students with real-world, hands-on experience by partnering with energy leaders and experienced professionals, while bringing new and out-of-the-box perspectives and ideas that are essential for fostering the creativity and growth of any business. OUC’s internship program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of the utility industry through on-the-job training, educational sessions, self-paced learning courses, and individual or team projects. We are looking for a Contracts & Finance Intern. During this internship, you will partner with the Contract, Finance & Project Management team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Academic status of Sophomore or above.
  • Program of study: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint (intermediate to advanced Excel skills)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong numerical skills, including calculating rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive; able to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve issues under deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability to learn new skills quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Experience with financial analysis, research, forecasting, and reporting; Power BI preferred
  • General knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles; fast learner eager to apply skills in a real-world setting

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with monthly financial analysis, reporting activities, and preparation of recurring budget presentations to support department financial oversight.
  • Supporting property damage billing processes and assisting with financial transaction corrections to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assisting in the development, tracking, and analysis of budget alignment metrics, including potential dashboard creation and reporting in Excel, potentially PowerBI
  • Supporting Contract Administrators by assisting with joint-use audits, billing activities, and the development of related tracking and performance metrics.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned to support contracts, finance, and operational needs.
