About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. The Contracts and Procurement Manager works with the Department of Administration (DOA) to oversee the department's procurement operations. Cooperatively develops and implements procurement policies, processes and strategies that align with DOC goals. Ensure cost-effective purchasing and maintain strong vendor relationships. The position has oversight of the Montana State Prison (MSP) warehouse and inventory management functions, including supply chain management and logistics. The position will lead a team of procurement professionals and work closely with department divisions to optimize contracting policy, processes, procedures; enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with state and federal statutes, rules, and policies. The position collaborates with all DOC programs to identify and mitigate risks, and ensure that the procurement of goods, supplies, and services is conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Provides professional support and contractual advice to stakeholders involving contractual services, consultants, equipment, supplies, construction, and capital improvements. Supervisory responsibilities include training, developing, professional support, recruitment and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible procurement and other related work experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Professional Certified Procurement Official is preferred.
