The Contracts and Grants Analyst position at UC Santa Barbara is a critical role within the Computer Science Department, operating under the general supervision of the Contracts and Grants Manager. This position is primarily responsible for the development and submission of research proposals, as well as managing awards and transactions related to contract and grant management. The analyst will maintain comprehensive records of contracts and grants to ensure compliance with institutional policies and the regulations set forth by research sponsors. This role is essential for the post-award administration, financial management, and analysis of contracts and grants, which collectively exceed $12 million annually. In this capacity, the analyst will set up new awards, analyze award terms and conditions, and provide guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding the appropriate university and agency policies related to extramural funding. The position requires a thorough understanding of various policies and procedures associated with Academic Personnel, Staff Personnel, Graduate Division, Accounting, Travel Accounting, Purchasing, and Business Services. Additionally, the analyst will support the Contracts and Grants Manager during the award closeout process, ensuring that all post-award activities are completed efficiently and accurately. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to exercise independent judgment. The analyst will also be expected to perform financial analyses and maintain proficiency in Google software programs and Microsoft applications. This position is integral to the successful management of research funding and compliance within the department, contributing to the overall mission of UC Santa Barbara.
