We have a current opportunity for a Contractor - Mechanical Technician 3, for up to 6 months located at our Oakman facility in Jacksonville, FL.

Requirements

  • 3+ years machine shop experience in aerospace environment, 7+ years without aerospace experience
  • Experience using mill, lathe, and laser cutter in addition to smaller tools and equipment
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings to facilitate hardware assembly
  • Proven ability to drill and tap holes, includes tapping for inserts and installing
  • Proficient in ASME Y14.5 GD&T practices

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for flight assembly, documentation, configuration changes, CAD to field observations, electro-mechanical integrations, and test setup iterations
  • Conduct testing of camera systems to SMC-S-016 standard: functional, performance, vibe, TVAC, thermal chamber, RF, and optical testing for spacecraft and lunar landers
  • Create and review engineering drawings for GD&T, completeness, and design for manufacturing (DFM), in both SolidWorks and Inventor
  • Translate conceptual designs into solid models, 3D printed parts, castings, physical templates, assembly and fabrication layouts for rapid prototyping
  • Participate in all major program milestones (Concept, SRR/SDR, PDR, CDR, Flight Build)
  • Used specifications provided by design engineers and/or driven by design requirements to locate and purchase hardware, materials, supplies, and consumables
  • Fabricate, machine, and assemble parts for all stages of development and testing (prototype, functional, retrofit, ECR modifications, validation, and parabolic flight)
  • Conceptualize, design, and fabricate test stands and GSE assemblies and components, including using and incorporating either commercially produced or proprietary built equipment, software, and/or hardware
  • Manage laboratory space to '5S' standards; organization, cleanliness, maintenance, and procurement of supplies, materials, equipment, tools, and tooling utilized in daily operations
  • Generate technical documents to include writing, reviewing, and revisioning: test plans, assembly guides, inspection procedures, handling procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • ISO cleanroom training for satellite and sensitive payload assembly
  • Recommend tests to be performed and methodology of conducting based on review of data and technical requirements
  • Perform data parsing, plotting, and graphical analysis (e.g., heat flux sensor output, motor torque/force over distance, RTD sensor output) for purpose of evaluation and inclusion in reports and/or other technical material
  • Other tasks as assigned
