About The Position

The Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) will work in a dynamic fast-paced environment supporting Sensitive Compartmented Information programs for the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of War (DoW) to develop, implement, and administer the security program in accordance with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) 703 and 704, DoDM 5105.21 manuals, the NISPOM Rule, program Security Classification Guides (SCGs) and program Statements of Work, and additional government customer requirements and regulations. The CSSO will be responsible for the personnel security, physical security, and Operations Security (OPSEC) of assigned Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and program areas.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years full-time experience working with SCI in all security disciplines, but specifically in personnel, physical, information and basic information assurance.
  • Ability to work independently in an operational environment and must possess knowledge of a full range of security principles, concepts, practices, products, and services; methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability; implementing mitigating improvement; and disseminating security procedures/processes.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills. While the ability to work independently is critical, so too is the ability to collaborate across the broader security team, with program managers and personnel, and with government customers.
  • Reliably attend and be punctual for meetings. Anduril is an “in-person” office.
  • Current TS//SCI eligibility required.

Nice To Haves

  • Successfully completed a formal SSO certification training and a SCIF physical security course within the last five (5) years.
  • Experience with DISS.
  • Familiarity with security management software tools (e.g., Lenel, SIMs, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable in interpreting and implementing security guidance based on ICDs, Security Executive Agent Directives (SEADs), DoD SCI policies, 32 CFR Part 117, “NISPOM Rule” and other policies, regulations, and processes as applicable.
  • Be familiar with and perform all aspects of implementing a government customer security program to include: validating SCI access, access requirements, processing SCI and eligibility requests, conducting nomination interviews, submitting investigative requests, conducting SCI security briefings, and obtaining other required documentation from nominees and indoctrinated individuals as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain program-specific security plans (Program Protection Plan/Standard Operating Procedure) and ensure compliance with national and government regulations.
  • Handle the day-to-day security operations for assigned programs, including managing access control, classified material accountability, and physical security of facilities.
  • Support program managers and personnel with classification guidance and other program related requirements (e.g., incoming and outgoing visit certifications, fulfilling customer reporting requirements to include foreign travel, foreign contacts, financial disclosures, outside activities, and others).
  • Inventory all classified documents safeguarded within the SCIF(s).
  • Build and maintain relationships with government security counterparts.
  • Provide security awareness briefings and training to program personnel.
  • Work with Information Technology teams, Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs), and Communications Security personnel to ensure equipment being brought into the secure areas is authorized and approved.
  • Ensure classified material is properly accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, safeguarded, and destroyed as appropriate.
  • Collaborate and assist the ISSO / ISSM on management of classified information systems.
  • Ensure all SCIF and SCI security requirements are maintained to satisfactorily pass Government inspections.
