About The Position

Baker Metal Works and Supply is dedicated to manufacturing a variety of high-quality metal roofing systems and stock trim items to meet customer needs. Our product range includes 5-panel profiles in 20 colors made from 29 or 26-gauge metal. Trim pieces are available in 26-gauge metal in all 20 colors and 10' lengths. We also provide custom pieces tailored to each project’s requirements. Job Summary: The Contractor Sales Representative is responsible for managing and growing relationships with roofing contractors, builders, and construction professionals. This role focuses on promoting and selling metal roofing products and solutions, offering expert advice, and ensuring customer satisfaction from product selection to delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of sales experience in construction materials, roofing, or building supplies required for full-time employees and preferred for interns.
  • Strong knowledge of metal roofing systems and components (standing seam, exposed fastener, trims, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites or client meetings if necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency with familiarity or ability to quickly learn ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP).
  • Understanding of roofing installation processes and challenges.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, construction drawings, or take-offs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, and construction firms.
  • Promote and sell metal roofing systems, components, and accessories.
  • Provide product recommendations based on customer needs, specs, and project requirements.
  • Prepare quotes, bids, and proposals in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work closely with estimating, design, and operations teams to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Coordinate order fulfillment, delivery timelines, and after-sales support.
  • Identify and pursue new contractor accounts and business opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of metal roofing trends, installation methods, building codes, and product innovations.
  • Attend trade shows, contractor events, and training sessions as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of sales activity, pipeline, and customer interactions in CRM software.
