About The Position

As a Contract Security Officer working at our Navy Yard location, you are responsible for safeguarding the site while providing excellent customer service to visitors. You will control access points, perform patrols, detect and deter unauthorized activity, and respond decisively to potential threats. Your professionalism, alertness, and sound judgment help ensure order, safety, and mission readiness at a secured military installation.

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Armed Security Officer (commercial or law enforcement) in the last five (5) years; or minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces
  • Must be proficient using firearms (9mm and M4)
  • Age: Be at least 21 years of age or be an honorably discharged veteran
  • Background: Must not have felony convictions and no convictions for domestic violence crime
  • Proof of Legal Residency: Must be a U.S. citizen. Dual citizenship is prohibited
  • Communication: Speak and be literate in English to the extent of writing, reading and understanding printed regulations, orders, instructions, etc.
  • Possess a valid current state-issued driver’s license
  • Have current or able to acquire Class A Large Capacity License to Carry Firearms
  • Have current or is able to obtain a DoD Clearance
  • Pass Drug Test
  • Psychological Testing Requirement: CPI/ MMPI tests
  • Medical Health Evaluation : Physical exam, Visual, Auditory
  • Physical Abilities Test: 1.5 mile run in less than 17.30 min/ 19 push-ups in 2 min
  • Be able to wear duty belt (20lbs), stand, walk, run, remain alert.
  • Upon Hire, must be available to successfully complete mandatory 2-week training. Includes classroom, tactical, firearms range, OC/ Baton, CPR/ First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Protect military installations, personnel, and assets from unauthorized access, sabotage, theft, or other threats
  • Conduct entry control and identification checks to verify authorized personnel, vehicles, and equipment
  • Perform perimeter and facility patrols to detect and deter suspicious or unlawful activity
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and incidents
  • Execute emergency procedures to secure the base during heightened alert conditions
  • Handle firearms responsibly, maintaining proficiency in accordance with company and regulatory standards
  • Complete accurate logs, reports, and documentation of security activities
  • Interact professionally with military personnel, visitors, and fellow officers
