The Contract Project Inspector for Stormwater at Cobb County Government is responsible for inspecting various construction projects to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations. This role involves overseeing both in-house and contracted projects, particularly focusing on stormwater drainage systems to maintain infrastructure integrity. The inspector will communicate with contractors, coordinate pre-construction activities, and ensure that all work adheres to safety protocols and quality standards.

  • Conduct inspections and project oversight for a range of construction and maintenance projects, including water and wastewater infrastructure, land development, roads, and drainage.
  • Communicate with contractors on behalf of the County, resolving discrepancies and negotiating terms.
  • Coordinate pre-construction activities, including site assessments and utility location research using GIS and other resources.
  • Inspect construction materials and workmanship for quality and compliance with contracts.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, project schedules, and regulatory standards during inspections.
  • Process documentation related to department operations, including inspection reports and job cost estimates.
  • Investigate and respond to citizen complaints regarding construction projects.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including utility companies and regulatory agencies, to coordinate work activities.
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in construction inspection, project management, civil engineering, or public works construction.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Certifications in Flagging, Trenching, and GA Erosion, Sediment & Control Level 1A or 1B may be required depending on assignment.
