About The Position

Georgetown University is seeking a Contract Officer for its Main Campus. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and approving supplier contracts and master agreements. The Contract Officer will guide Georgetown University stakeholders through the contracts process to minimize risk and liability, ensuring compliance with University policy and audit requirements. The position works closely with the Assistant VP of Procure-to-Pay, Director of Strategic Sourcing, and Senior Contract Officer to align procurements with University strategic goals. Additionally, this role is responsible for training, supervising, and providing professional development to Contract Managers and Administrators. The Contract Officer will report to the Senior Contract Officer and will also serve as an interim team lead, representing Contract Managers when the Senior Contract Officer is out of office. This position is designated as Hybrid 2 Days, with in-person time desired for interacting with interns, stakeholders, conducting trainings, reviewing contracts, and resolving issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, business, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 5 years of experience in contract drafting, review and negotiations
  • 4+ years of experience in contract review, business operations, or a related area
  • Ability to get to the root cause of problems quickly and find ways to resolve them either individually, within a team, and/or across disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of interns
  • Expertise with procurement concepts, practices, and procedures, especially in the area of contracts
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines across varying stakeholder teams and interests
  • Proficiency in standard Google Suite, Microsoft Office products, virtual collaboration platforms and ERP systems (i.e. Zoom, Workday, Cognos, etc.)
  • Strong foundation to be self-motivated and work as part of a team
  • High attention to detail
  • Presentation and communication skills to present data and build relationships across various stakeholder groups; ability to train others in similar skillsets

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and approve supplier contracts and master agreements
  • Guide GU stakeholders through the contracts process with the goal of minimizing risk and liability in accordance with University policy and audit requirements
  • Ensure University procurements are aligned with University strategic goals
  • Train, supervise, and provide professional development to Contract Managers and Administrators
  • Liaise directly with contract initiators within Georgetown’s large portfolio of the Main Campus
  • Work with other members on reviewing contracts and related policies and processes
  • Conduct audits
  • Develop/deliver training material
  • Supervise and train Contract team Interns
  • Act as an interim team lead and represent the Contract Managers should the Senior Contract Officer be out of office
