Requirements

• Must be in good general health and able to perform job functions.
• Vision must be correctable to 20/30 in both eyes.
• Ability to hear conversational voice is required; hearing corrected with a prescribed hearing device is permitted.
• Emotional and mental stability are essential.
• Ability to tactfully deal with inmates, a keen sense of perception, mental alertness, and the ability to resolve crisis situations.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma, GED, or foreign equivalency.
• A minimum of 3 years Law enforcement, Military Police, or Armed Detention Officer experience.
• Valid Carry permit and annual firearms qualification.
• Act 235 certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide armed escorts of inmates traveling to, during and from off-site medical visits within Philadelphia County.
• Ensure the secure custody of all inmates during medical appointments.
• Furnish the necessary personnel to provide for the protection and safekeeping of those inmates.
• Maintain constant control over, and direct visual observation of the inmate.
