About The Position

We are currently seeking a Construction Administrator in Harrisonburg, VA. The successful candidate will have experience in line construction (fiber or electric) as well as working with underground contractors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to: Conducting daily inspections of overhead contract crews; Coordinating all construction and maintenance contract crew; Reviewing and approving construction invoices; Evaluating construction contracts and recommending improvements; Identifying contractor deficiencies or deviations from specifications and enforcing contract compliance; Exercising independent judgment in terminating contractors who fail to meet specifications; Assisting the Manager in resolving billing disputes, unit pricing issues, and other specific concerns; Coordinating with Engineering, Warehousing, and Purchasing to ensure projects meet specifications, budgets, and schedules; Tracking project costs to maintain alignment with budgeted expenses; Participating in the development of the annual operations budget, including construction contract allocations; Participating in the scheduled on‑call program as needed; and Assisting with any special projects assigned. Requirements

  • Completion of NESC Joint‑Use Design and Application training (preferred)
  • Experience with line construction techniques and materials
  • Strong knowledge of electric utility construction and maintenance
  • Supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Ability to work during all weather conditions, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support service restoration or elevated workloads
  • Reachable by telephone at all times
  • Valid driver’s license required; must pass background check and drug screening
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment across various terrain
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
