About The Position

The primary physician at CSL Plasma serves as the main medical authority for compliance with FDA regulations and oversees medical operations at the center. This role includes ensuring adherence to CLIA regulations, providing training and oversight to medical staff, and maintaining high medical standards in a fast-paced environment. The physician is responsible for donor suitability evaluations, medical incident reviews, and ensuring the health and safety of donors participating in various programs.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school.
  • Current and active medical license in the state of the Center's location.
  • One year of residency training as an MD or DO.
  • Familiarity with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and relevant Plasma Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary physician for reporting to the FDA and provide medical oversight in compliance with regulations.
  • Delegate duties of laboratory director, technical consultant, or clinical consultant as per CLIA regulations.
  • Review and comply with CSL Plasma Services policies and procedures, maintaining high medical standards.
  • Provide medical oversight and training to Medical Staff Associates and evaluate their training completion.
  • Review Medical Staff Associates' notebooks and screening evaluations weekly.
  • Meet monthly with Medical Staff Associates to discuss medical topics and document meetings.
  • Act as a liaison between Corporate Medical Director and Center Medical Staff, preparing reports and participating in calls.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding donor suitability and conduct confidential interviews with donors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee, donor, and center records and oversee medical supplies.
  • Review medical incident reports and abnormal test results before donor resumption of donations.
  • Monitor donor health and safety in immunization programs and oversee hyper-immune programs if applicable.
  • Perform evaluations and provide approvals for red blood cell immunization in the Anti-D Program if applicable.
  • Determine donor suitability following adverse reactions in consultation with Corporate Medical Director.
  • Perform Center Physician functions including notifying donors of unsuitable test results and explaining consent materials.
  • Perform additional services as requested by the company.
