About The Position

The Contract Analyst is a member of the Office of Sponsored Programs’ (OSP) Contracts and Collaborations team. This role drafts, negotiates, executes, and manages a variety of contracts, inbound subawards, and sponsored research agreements to support the University’s research activities. The Analyst ensures all agreements align with University policies, sponsor requirements, and applicable regulations. This position interprets and communicates sponsor expectations to research administration colleagues and faculty to facilitate proper award administration. While managing a portfolio of research agreements including federal prime awards and subawards, they advise stakeholders on specific terms, conditions, and compliance requirements. This role translates contractual requirements into clear, practical guidance and ensures appropriate safeguards for data use, intellectual property, publication rights, and regulatory compliance. Build service-oriented relationships with assigned schools and departments to tailor support to their specific operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts, in an academic or research setting.
  • A strong understanding of contract management and research compliance within a complex university environment
  • Familiarity with contracts and collaborations, sponsored programs and research administration
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing and negotiating contract terms and conditions
  • An understanding of contract boilerplate language appropriate to institutions of higher education
  • Exceptional critical reading, writing, and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex terms and identify potential risks in contracts
  • Demonstrate initiative, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth, contributing to the ongoing development of the organization and its mission.

  • 3+ years relevant professional experience in research administration, legal affairs, ideally within a university or non-profit research setting.
  • Must have experience, reviewing, analyzing and negotiating terms and conditions, executing grants, contracts, subcontracts, service agreement and other agreements governing the conduct of sponsored program activities as well as specific contract training and an understanding of contract boilerplate appropriate to institutions of higher education.
  • Should possess expertise in contracting and knowledge of, and familiarity with federal regulations, including Uniform Guidance, export controls, and requirements related to data security, research involving human subjects, and animals.
  • Ability to work well independently or collaboratively; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
