About The Position

This position negotiates, analyzes, and processes power, natural gas, financial commodity, renewable energy, and emission allowance contracts through extensive client contact. This position also maintains pertinent Contract Administration reports and the data integrity of the Risk Management Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in a related area.
  • 1+ years of related work experience preferred (systems, contract review, energy industry) for Contract Analyst.
  • 2+ years of experience in energy industry for Senior Contract Analyst.
  • 3+ years of related work experience in commodity contract negotiation and administration required for Lead Contract Analyst.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and organized.
  • Strong critical thinking skills used to analyze and interpret contracts and basic legal language.
  • Initiative to follow-through on projects and duties, and ensure that individual work is completed accurately, timely and efficiently.
  • Excellent project management skills including managing timelines and multiple tasks simultaneously for Senior Contract Analyst.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills for Lead Contract Analyst.
  • Strong aptitude for math and finances for Lead Contract Analyst.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer/PC and various software for Lead Contract Analyst.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or CPA for Lead Contract Analyst.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate contracts for ACES Clients including power, natural gas, financial, renewable & emission agreements, long-form confirmation letters, amendments and other energy contracts.
  • Review and analyze existing and new contracts to evaluate contract risk to Clients’ trading portfolios.
  • Process contract documentation.
  • Maintain current data in the Risk Management System for counterparty and contract information.
  • Use established Desk Procedures to provide consistent and accurate data entry in the Risk Management System.
  • Update the Risk Management System by entering data timely, researching problems, and providing meaningful solutions.
  • Perform assigned daily, weekly, and monthly reviews for contract monitoring.
  • Prepare assigned Contract Administration reports.
  • Interface and manage requests and special projects for assigned ACES’ Clients and other Departments.
  • Maintain and coordinate Client weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly status calls and reports.
  • Support other Department members.
  • Communicate and brainstorm to solve problems and new issues.
  • Adhere to and support all ACES corporate policies and comply with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
