The Contract Administrator position within the Department of Defense involves overseeing and managing contractual obligations between the government and contractors. The role requires continual planning, evaluation of contractual performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Contract Administrator serves as a team leader, coordinating with various specialists to prepare government positions and conduct negotiations, while also advising team members on contract administration matters.

  • Perform continual planning to integrate actions involving contractual obligations and responsibilities of both the Government and the contractor.
  • Develop and maintain systems to evaluate and monitor contractual performance related to delivery, cost, progress, advance payments, and management of maintenance and repair efforts.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Serve as primary coordinator and team leader over functional specialists to prepare the Government position and conduct negotiations with the contractor.
  • Review, amend, and accept/reject the completed work of team members.
  • Advise, counsel, and provide instruction to team members regarding contract administration matters.
  • Ensure adequate evaluations and approvals/disapprovals of the contractor's business management and control systems.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess at least two years of experience in a contracting position.
  • One year of specialized experience directly related to the position, equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience in negotiation techniques for contract settlements.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluating contractor performance.
