POSITION PURPOSE The Continuous Improvement Supervisor is in charge of coordinating the day-to-day activities in the Quality Assurance Department. They are in control of the quality systems, conduct monthly statistical analysis and reporting, and work with the Quality Assurance employees to develop proactive procedures that will improve our quality system. The Quality Assurance Supervisor is also responsible for the overall efficiencies of customer complaint resolutions and follow up on internal non-conformances. They take the lead role in quality system audits, the coordination of sorting activities, resolution of supplier non-conformances.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years in quality or equivalent experience
  • Able to work alternate shifts as business needs
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control theories
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Proficient at using computers including MS Office
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in supervision would be preferred
  • SAP experience would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Performs and monitors quality checks in all departments to ensure defects do not occur.
  • Train on how to identify and prevent product defects
  • Train on quality checks and quality testing.
  • Performs daily testing for customer products, as required
  • Determines and manages substandard product and raw materials (paperboard) determining what can/should be sold, sorted/reworked, or scrapped.
  • Enters Vendor (Raw Material) Complaints into system
  • Manages quality incident investigation process to ascertain root cause(s) - for use in recommending preventive measures and improving quality
  • Oversees all sort activities (establish sort standards, mentor, and monitor temporary employees, systems entries, and housekeeping)
  • Performs customer and internal sampling requirements
  • Participate in internal and external customer visits
  • Manages Color standard and 1st run color materials process. Works directly with operators to achieve high quality color material
  • Manages quality lab (testing, calibrations, trouble shooting, housekeeping, and training)
  • Manages score bend, ink rubs, stiffness COF and caliper checks
  • Monitors and reviews all customer COA’s
  • Develops and maintains documents and SOPs
  • COA’s, RMN, NCR reporting.
  • Gathers data as requested for projects/troubleshooting, etc.
  • Serves as a back up to the QA Manager when on breaks in a meeting.
  • Participates in safety and quality behavior-based observations.
  • Helps ensures plant’s compliance to 3rd party Functional Control / Pre-Requisite program requirements including HACCP, SQF, and other customer-mandated programs.
  • Looks after chemical control process including SDS
