About The Position

Hayward Holdings Inc. (NYSE "HAYW") is the largest manufacturer of residential swimming pool equipment in the world, with a significant presence in the commercial pool market that is continuously growing. Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. This position is based in Clemmons, NC. Directs continuous improvement for the Clemmons plant and facilitates division responses to external and internal needs for process and procedural improvement. Coordinates continuous improvement goal activities in areas of customer satisfaction, product and service quality, cost reduction and safety with the respective functional managers. Works closely with management to develop the culture and drive the organization towards a “lean manufacturing” environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret documents. Ability to respond to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or styles. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to event teams, management, vendors, etc. Foreign language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference as well as the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance; concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Personal computer skills. A sound knowledge of business fundamentals and technical knowledge of the division’s products.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or BSME from a four-year college or university, preferably in industrial or mechanical engineering; five to ten years related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. Occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work extended hours as necessary.

  • Foreign language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the management team to develop and sustain a Kaizen program that supports the Hayward Global Production System (HGPS). This includes the development of quality, cost, delivery and safety (SQDC), and management/supervisor aids (i.e., 5S audit, training, productivity, scrap, hour/hour and supervisor determinates).
  • Supports daily continuous improvement of all production employees and processes with a goal of employee development and elimination of waste.
  • Performs Kaizen event group training, further individual training and helps develop the floor supervisory staff using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Works with staff to develop team goals and members, develop event information packages, provide team members with meals, event presentation to management support and recognition awards.
  • Responsible for event 30-day follow-up and sustainment activities. This requires close interaction between the Kaizen department and both staff and shop floor personnel.
  • Supports other Hayward KPO Managers with event training, program sustainment and metrics standardization. This requires traveling to other Hayward facilities as needed to instruct in Kaizen training and/or even participation.
