About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Specialist intern position will work with the Manufacturing Excellence/Continuous Improvement team in McConnellsburg, PA. The CI Specialist Intern will assist with the following possible duties and responsibilities: Work with business leaders to identify key areas of focus and establish charters for improvement projects. Document current processes and analyze improvement opportunities using process mapping, performance assessments, voice of the customer, etc. Engage cross-functional team members in analyzing processes using Lean and/or Six Sigma principles and methodologies to identify root causes of the problem (process mapping, data analysis, waste walks, PFMEA, etc.) Develop recommendations for improvements and present justification to key stakeholders and leadership. Test solutions and implement permanent corrective actions. Establish control plans to sustain the improvements. Conduct training (as needed) on key process improvement principles for cross-functional team members. Areas of focus could be related to: capacity constraints, throughput, cycle time, TAKT time, line balancing, downtime/overall equipment effectiveness, process flow, labor requirements, waste reduction, quality/first pass yield, standard work, workplace organization.

Requirements

  • Student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Industrial/ Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management with a focus on Lean/Six Sigma/ Operational Excellence principles and methods.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio).
  • Experience in Problem Solving, Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence.
