About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer at RTC Aerospace is responsible for developing and enhancing process capabilities and efficiencies to align with company strategies and goals. This role involves identifying key processes for improvement, forming teams, and utilizing various methodologies to implement and monitor process enhancements. The position is full-time and based in Chatsworth, California, focusing on both administrative and operational processes within the manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in lean manufacturing.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Formal training and experience in project management and Kaizen facilitation.
  • Experience in continuous improvement activities, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.
  • Basic shop math skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

  • CNC programming experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Certification from a Six Sigma belt program.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and recommend key processes for development and/or improvement to management.
  • Provide written work instructions and detailed drawings to support manufacturing processes.
  • Create and execute process routers, inspection plans, and documentation changes.
  • Perform process evaluations for corrective actions and product development.
  • Assist the quoting team with methods, time estimates, and cost data for customer quotations.
  • Communicate project status and milestones to internal stakeholders regularly.
  • Organize and execute long-term government programs.
  • Support and track progress against the annual Continuous Improvement Plan.
  • Lead and facilitate project teams using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Define processes and allocate resources for implementation plans, including tooling and equipment recommendations.
  • Conduct time studies and manage the 6S Program, including audits.
  • Manage machine efficiency and collaborate with operators on tooling and process optimization.
  • Review manufacturing orders for engineering standards and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify KPIs for tracking and lead brainstorming sessions for improvement opportunities.
  • Lead A3 problem-solving, Kaizen events, and Six Sigma projects.
