About The Position

The Continuous Improvement & Lean Specialist participates in a continuous improvement and/or efficiency project within the company, focusing on products, systems, operations, and processes. This role is likely to require a yellow belt six sigma qualification and involves carrying out duties as part of the overall function within the organization. The specialist will contribute to lean improvement activities, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and efficiency to enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current work practices to identify areas for improvement and educate on how to improve business and manufacturing processes.
  • Devise and test solutions and roll out new ways of working.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen-Continuous Improvement Events (CIE's).
  • Perform workplace audits and streamline processes within the area of responsibility.
  • Process mapping, value stream mapping, and identifying inefficiencies in productivity with a focus on layouts and sequencing.
  • Recommend changes to management that can cut waste from operating procedures.
  • Deploy appropriate methodologies to problem solving and support teams in solving problems.
  • Ensure the escalation process for problem solving is effective.
  • Demonstrate performance excellence behaviors within the business and champion performance excellence.
  • Support the business in establishing 'best practice.'
  • Implement standard work, visual factory, and error proofing (poka yoke).
  • Undertake continuous training and development.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Carry out time and motion studies to support productivity improvements.
  • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance, recording on appropriate systems.
  • Promote high standards through personal example and ensure team members understand expected standards and behaviors.
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
