About The Position

This engineering internship will provide experience and training in many of the key engineering activities. It will include self-paced personal projects, long-term collaborative projects across multiple departments, and day-to-day improvement activities with the engineering team.

Project Overview
Exact projects to be defined closer to internship start. Typically, the internships include 1 project to capture each
area below plus some additional action items to support our opportunity tag program:
Process Improvement/Optimization – A project working on improvements to an existing, successful process for
either output increase or cost savings. This will usually be identified in advance by the engineering team and then be independently managed and paced by the intern.
New Equipment/Process Qualification – A project working on installation and documentation for a new piece of
equipment arriving during the intern’s program duration. This will typically be assisting an engineer in all aspects of
equipment/process implementation and transfer to production.
Quality Investigations and Corrective Actions – A project working on assisting with a Quality Investigation or Corrective Action for an existing process. This will typically involve large-scale data collection, interpretation, and report writing

Requirements

• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Proficiency with principles of basic statistics.
• Experimental design aptitude and good documentation skills.
• Willing to work collaboratively and coordinate trials across multiple departments.
• Willing to work hands-on for machine trials and data collection.
• " Whatever It Takes" attitude.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with a CAD software (Solidworks or AutoCad) and data analysis software (Minitab) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule/coordinate engineering trials and collect/interpret data.
• Suggest and implement process improvements using data-based decision making.
• Write-up of reports and Production/Quality documentation.
• Assist engineering in implementing and demonstrating effectiveness of new processes.
• Assist engineering in day-to-day activities like Quality Investigations and general troubleshooting.
