Job Summary- General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is seeking an Intern to join our St. Marks Continuous Improvement team. In this role, you will work on projects that impact St. Marks Powder. You will gain hands-on experience with Continuous Improvement practices, policies, and strategy that will help propel the organization forward.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in related Business courses or be within 6 months of graduation
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Attentiveness.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to professional employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
  • Contributes to assigned projects and may assist with the development and maintenance of documentation or records.
  • Learns organizational processes and procedures.
  • Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
  • May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
  • Handles basic issues and problems
  • Participate in a Kaizen Event, most likely 5S, which will include training, pre-work, and planning, as well as work execution.
  • Certify as a KL in 5S or another Kaizen tool.
  • Investigating and assisting in the completion of lean ideas that have been submitted.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks assisting the CI team.
  • Set up Kanban System in the Continuous Improvement department.
  • Review and compose work instruction for internal CI processes and procedures.
  • Lead / Co-Lead a CI Process Improvement Project.
