About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern to join our Precision Products division. The intern will work under the general direction of the Sr Industrial Engineer to achieve Kaman Precision Products goals by providing support to office and shop process owners through facilitation of continuous improvement activities using lean principles and quality tools. The primary responsibilities include planning and assisting in lean events and documentation of Performance Improvement Engineering (PIE) activities (events, metrics, plans, etc) and results.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in a related field, or a two year college degree in a related field with additional work experience that equates to a complete four-year degree.
• 0 to 2 years of experience including facilitation skills to speak in front of groups or teams.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word).

Responsibilities

• Communicate and drive the overall CI KPP new strategy to Sr Industrial Engineer for communication to the Director of Operations.
• Work in collaboration with employees in shop and administrative functional areas to coordinate, facilitate, and conduct lean events at all Precision Products locations.
• Complete studies on current operational processes to analyze operational efficiency and line performance to develop new improvement opportunities and ideas.
• Execute Plans for lean workshop events by assisting Sr Industrial Engineer in the notification of team members and participation during kickoff meetings.
• Assist with the support of implementing Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing projects for improvement.
• Assist in creating new or editing existing training materials (Lean 101, Lean 201) covering basic and advanced lean, quality tools and classes.
• Develop performance standards & metrics for the implementation of any analyses and reporting processes for monitoring of operational performance.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with all applicable team members of lessons learned, information, and best practices as directed by the Continuous Improvement team.
