About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Engineering Co-op at Irving Tissue is a temporary student position designed for individuals pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering. This role is set to begin in Winter 2025, with an 8-month term preferred, although a 4-month term may also be available. The co-op will be based in Macon, Georgia, and is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a leading manufacturer of premium tissue products. Irving Tissue prides itself on its commitment to quality and sustainability, having planted over 1.1 billion trees since its inception in 1957 and being recognized as a Carbon Neutral Forest Supply Chain. As a co-op, you will be immersed in the daily operations of the company, learning about various departments including Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability, Converting, Paper Machines, Utilities, Logistics, and Quality Assurance. This position offers a unique chance to engage in real projects that matter, providing you with significant responsibilities from day one. You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry-leading professionals, participate in networking events, and contribute to meaningful improvements within the organization. The role emphasizes learning and development, with mentorship opportunities and the chance to have your ideas heard. You will be expected to perform data mining, engage in six sigma exercises, and apply structured problem-solving techniques. Additionally, you will complete projects utilizing lean tools such as Standard Work, 5S, Kanban, Changeover reduction, Error Proofing, and Visual Management.
