About The Position

This position is an instructional position with duties and responsibilities which are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustee policies. Teaching assignments will focus on welding practices to include gas and electric welding. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education. All instructors are responsible for utilizing the College's learning management system as all College courses are at a minimum technology enhanced.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform welding practices to industry standards to ensure safety of staff, students, facilities, and equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability in these specific areas: Oxy-Acetylene cutting, welding and brazing, Carbon Arc cutting, blueprint reading for welders, metallurgy, metal fabrication, and the following welding techniques: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, PAC, FCAW, and metal corrosion.
  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
  • Experience in instructing students of varying skill levels.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years' teaching experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) years' work experience in the field is preferred.
  • A current AWS (American Welding Society) Certified Welder Certification is preferred.
  • Certifications in any of the following preferred: Oxy-Acetylene cutting, welding and brazing, carbon arc cutting, blueprint reading for welders, metallurgy, metal fabrication, and the following welding techniques: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, PAC, FCAW, metal corrosion, CRAW.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and instructs assigned courses to promote student success.
  • Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providing feedback.
  • Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use and ensures proper care and safety.
  • Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of the College.
  • Assists in implementing College policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the College Mission Statement.
  • Responsible for keeping current in the discipline or program areas taught.
  • Assist in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
