About The Position

The Georgetown-Howard Center for Medical Humanities and Health Justice (MHHJ) is a dynamic venture between Georgetown and Howard Universities, funded by the Mellon Foundation. The Center serves as a research and educational hub converging students, faculty, postdocs, and community partners to apply medical humanities toward advancing health equity in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Content Writer/Editor will develop and curate a dynamic content library that advances MHHJ's mission to bridge academic research with public health impact. This position requires mastery of various content formats - from scholarly articles to engaging blog posts - to effectively communicate how the critical medical humanities can address health inequities. The ideal candidate will amplify our center's voice and visibility through compelling, clear copy across multiple platforms. They will be an agile writer who can adapt their voice and style to create engaging content that resonates with our diverse audiences, while maintaining consistent quality and messaging. As a critical member of the MHHJ team, the Content Writer will ensure our academic expertise reaches both scholarly and public audiences effectively. This role requires agility in moving between technical and accessible writing styles while maintaining consistent quality across all communications channels. The successful candidate will help shape our thought leadership, improve existing content, and develop new approaches to showcase the Center’s unique approach to addressing healthcare challenges through the tools of the medical humanities.
