About The Position

We are seeking a Content Strategist to support an initiative under the Secure, Performant, Reliable, and User-Centered Experiences (SPRUCE) IDIQ contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This initiative aims to improve user experience and accessibility, increase mobile parity, and enhance system performance for Veterans accessing vital health services. This work aligns with human-centered design, Agile methodologies, and government digital services best practices to ensure equitable and secure digital access to health information. This is a full-time position contingent on contract award by our client, with a defined performance period of one year with two one-year option periods. This contract is currently in its first option year period. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of human-centered design (HCD) strategies, methods, and approaches, and how content design fits in and elevates UX and product design deliverables and solutions.
  • Experience working within cross-functional digital teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in writing, revising, sourcing, and aggregating content.
  • An understanding of plain language guidelines and accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG).
  • Experience working with content management systems and/or digital experience. platforms, including creating and managing plans for migrating content from legacy to modernized content management solutions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VA, federal health systems, or government digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of veteran benefits, transition processes, or public service technology.

Responsibilities

  • Support the content needs of product teams working on digital tools and applications.
  • Create content that adapts to and aligns with the VA.gov style guide’s established voice, style, and plain language standards.
  • Write or edit error messages and alerts.
  • Collaborate with other members of the centralized content team within their workflow to achieve a high-quality final product for Veterans.
  • Create plain-language content that is clear, accurate, consistent, compassionate, equitable, authoritative, accessible, and findable.
  • Research the topic and related benefit for each request so as to write content that is accurate and well-informed.
  • Use research findings to iterate on content
  • Focus on the Veteran experience with all work produced.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned and qualified/trained to perform
