About The Position

The Content Manager is responsible for creating and publishing digital content across Visit Eau Claire’s social media platforms and digital channels. This role produces engaging content that tells the Eau Claire story in all its dimensions, inspiring travelers to discover everything the destination has to offer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Additional relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of formal education.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage content across digital and social media platforms, typically acquired through one to three years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling copy and craft narratives that reflect a consistent brand voice.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, with an understanding of best practices for each.
  • Experience capturing and editing photo and/or video content, with basic graphic design skills using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite; comfortable appearing on camera and being featured in published content on behalf of Visit Eau Claire.
  • Familiarity with content scheduling tools, social media management platforms, and social media analytics.
  • Working knowledge of SEO principles and how they inform content strategy.
  • Ability to develop and execute a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
  • Self-directed, creative and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing platform trends and organizational needs.
  • Position involves sitting, using hands and fingers to operate the computer, listening and speaking on phone, and looking at details of both text and color pictures on a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to maintain composure and professionalism during difficult conversations.

  • This position requires the employee to reside in the Eau Claire area.

Responsibilities

  • Execute social media campaigns that promote Visit Eau Claire’s seasonal marketing initiatives, major events, festivals, and tourism experiences.
  • Write engaging captions and social media copy that align with Visit Eau Claire’s brand voice and visual identity guidelines.
  • Schedule and publish content across Visit Eau Claire’s social media platforms.
  • Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and direct messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Engage with Visit Eau Claire’s audiences and local tourism community through active social media monitoring, conversations, and social listening.
  • Encourage and amplify visitor-generated content across Visit Eau Claire’s social platforms.
  • Monitor social media performance, including engagement, growth, and reach, and provide regular performance insights to the marketing team.
  • Stay current on social media trends, algorithm changes, and emerging platforms to keep Visit Eau Claire’s content strategy relevant and effective.
  • Conceptualize, storyboard, capture and produce short-form video, photography, and social media content that highlights the Eau Claire area.
  • Maintain a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, seasonal campaigns, and key tourism moments.
  • Source and curate user-generated content.
  • Draft, format, and distribute Visit Eau Claire’s email newsletters and campaigns in coordination with the marketing team.
  • Ensure all published content adheres to Visit Eau Claire’s brand guidelines and maintains a consistent voice across all digital channels.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, partners, and event organizers through community engagement.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of local attractions, businesses, and events to inform content creation.
  • Represent Visit Eau Claire at select community events to capture social media content and highlight local experiences.
  • Create and update partner and event listings on VisitEauClaire.com and maintain destination listings on external tourism platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
  • Assist other departments as needed.
