About The Position

The Containment Specialist will be responsible for supporting the containment and control of spills, leaks, and other environmental hazards, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards. EnerStar CCS is seeking great team members with good handyman knowledge.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a handyman role or similar position preferred
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in containment and spill response
  • Strong practical skills and the ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects: 50 to 75 lbs
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Capacity to perform physical labor, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
  • The role involves working in outdoor environments, often in remote locations
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, as required
  • Adherence to all safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory
  • Physical Requirements: This position involves frequent lifting (must be able to lift 50 pounds), bending, climbing, walking, standing for extended periods, and working in confined spaces. Candidates must have the physical ability to safely perform these tasks.
  • Medical Fitness: Due to the nature of the work and safety protocols, candidates must be medically fit to handle physically demanding tasks and work in varying environmental conditions. Pre-employment and periodic medical evaluations may be required.
  • Work Conditions: Outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind) and exposure to dust, noise, and other environmental factors is common.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety in all tasks and comply with company and client safety protocols
  • Champion EnerStar Core Values in all professional activities
  • Spill Containment and Control Set-up and Teardown
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of containment barriers in designated areas as determined by the EnerStar CCS customer
  • Equipment Maintenance and Inspection
  • Perform regular inspections of containment equipment and materials to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Conduct basic maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment used for spill response and containment
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies to the supervisor
  • Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations related to spill containment and response
  • Document and report any incidents, near-misses, or hazards encountered during containment activities
  • Support and Collaboration
  • Work closely with other team members
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of containment sites, ensuring all materials and equipment are accounted for and properly stored
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to provide updates on containment efforts and site conditions
  • Handyman Duties
  • Utilize basic handyman skills to support various maintenance tasks around the site, such as minor repairs, installations, and general upkeep
  • Assist with the construction and assembly of temporary containment structures and barriers as needed
  • Participate in other relevant tasks as assigned
